Dates for 2008-2009 Training
Advanced Training and Internship
Program
The
Advanced Teaching Artist Training and Internship Program takes place
between October 2008 and June 2009 and includes the following:
- October ~ November: Mandatory three-day institute (three Saturdays; October 4, October 18, November 15 ~ ALL DAYS 10am-4pm).
- November ~ January:
Assist in two CWP residencies for at least two consecutive weekly
sessions (45-60 minutes long) at two of our partnership schools (at
least four sessions in total). Most of our residencies take place
during school hours (M-F, 8am-2pm) in NYC public schools.
- January ~ May: Advanced Trainees are invited to attend monthly CWP Professional Development Workshops, but attendance is not mandatory.
New and Beginning Teacher Artist Training and
Internship Program
The
New and Beginning Teaching Artist Training and Internship Program takes
place between October 2008 and June 2009 and includes attendance and
participation in the following:
- October ~ December: Mandatory five-day institute (five Saturdays; October 4, October 18, November 8, December 6 and December 14 ~ ALL DAYS 10am-4pm).
- November ~ May:
Trainees assist in a CWP residency for one weekly session (45 -60
minutes long) for a minimum of twenty weeks. Most of our
residencies take place during school hours (M-F, 8am-2pm) in NYC public schools.
- January ~ May:
Mandatory monthly two-hour evening seminars (dates TBA) that focus on
reflecting on your experiences and development as a teaching artist,
and further preparing for the classroom.
Undergraduate Teacher Artist Training and
Internship Program
The Undergraduate Teaching
Artist Training and Internship Program takes place between October 2008
and June 2009 and includes attendance and participation in the
following:
- October ~ December: Mandatory five-day institute (five Saturdays; October 4, October 18, November 8, December 6 and December 14 ~ ALL DAYS 10am-4pm).
- November ~ May:

We encourage all
serious writers, theater artists, visual artists, dancers and musicians who
are actively practicing their art form to apply. (You need not be affiliated
with an MFA program.)
We are now accepting applications for the 2008-2009 Teacher
Artist Training and Internship Programs.
